Page 6A STANDARD BANNER Tuesday, August 26, 2008 OBITUARIES 4. James 'Bus' Alley, Jr. James Oscar "Bus" Alley, of Andersonville, passed away Friday, August 22, 2008. He was born November 19, 1928 in Anderson County. He was a descendant from the Alley, Wallace, Kirkpatrick and Irwin early settlers of Anderson County, Tennessee of 1802.

He was the son of the late James Oscar Alley, Sr. and Flossie Gertrude Kirkpatrick. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roy Wendell Alley; sisters, Mildred Juanita Alley and 1 Thelma Maxine Alley Cox; nephew, Gerald Lynn and niece, Sandra Sue Gustafson Pool. He is survived by his sister, Mrs. Warren Arthur Gustafson of Andersonville; nieces, Virginia Louise Cox Croft of Dandridge, Lisa June Cox of Jackson and Linda Gaye Cox-Collier of Knoxville; many relatives and friends.

He graduated from Norris High School in 1949 where he played varsity basketball: After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and saw action during the invasion of Inchon in the Korean War where he earned the Purple. Heart. After four years in the Navy, he returned to the home of Luster and Ada Alley, his aunts that had cared for him since he was four weeks old, at the death of his mother. After weeks of adjusting to civilian life, he decided to attend a GI school. He attended Knoxville Business College, a Sheet Metal School and a Tailoring Institute.

He worked as a Healthcare giver for many years, then, he worked as a Merchant Marine on the Great Lakes Ore Boats. He retired to his farm in Tennessee, where he worked on his farm and garden. He was a member of Hillvale Baptist Church. The family received friends Sunday, August 24 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home. Interment was held Monday, August 25with a military ceremony in Bethel Church Cemetery with Rev.

Lowell Elkins conducting the services. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home, Clinton, was in charge of arrangements. Ronald Lee Atherton, Sr. Ronald Lee Atherton, age 68, of New Market, (Dumplin Community) passed away Saturday, August 23, 2008. He was preceded in death by his Emest Atherton; mother, Grace.

Brown Atherton Parent; ers, Ernest Bennett Atherton and Louis: Atherton; sister, Patricia Lewis. He is survived by his wife, Agnes Jones Atherton; sons, Ron Atherton, Jr. and Michael Edward (Kimberly) Atherton; grandchildren, David Atherton, Shaina Miranda West and Marcus Shaun West; great-grandchildren, Makayla West and Kelsey West; sisters, Nancy Atherton, Jeanette Riner and Cathy Needham; several nieces and nephews. Interment graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 26 in Fain Cemetery. The family received friends Monday prior to the service at the funeral home. Farrar Funeral Home, Jefferson City, was in charge of arrangements, Evelyn L. Fisher Evelyn L. Fisher, age 87, of Dandridge, formerly of Knoxville, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2008, at St. Mary's Jefferson Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H.

Fisher and parents, Henry and Edna Burgess. She is survived by her nephews includ- ing, Bim Burgess of Sevierville and David Smith of Dandridge and several nieces. Funeral services were held Friday, August 22 at Fielden Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jim Dampier conducting the services. The family received friends Friday prior to the services at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations maybe made to The American Heart Association. The body was taken to Star City in Indiana for a burial service. Ruby Baker Groseclose Ruby Baker Groseclose, age 87, of Jefferson City, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2008, at Life Care Center of Jefferson City following an extended illness. She was. preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Carl "Shorty" Groseclose; parents, George and Bessie Dyle Baker; Earl Baker and son-in-law, Clark McCoig. Betsy Jackson Betsy Jackson, age 61, of Cos- by, passed away Friday, August 22, 2008, at St. Mary's Jefferson Memorial Hospital. In her youth, she attended First United Methodist Church of Gatlinburg. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Ralph H.

and Elnora Shilling. She is survived by her husband, Orbery Jackson of Cosby; -son, Michael A. Jackson of White Pine; grandson, Micheal, Dakota Jackson of White Pine; sister, Nancy and husband, Bill Lingerfelt of Newport; brother, Ralph Dickson Shilling of Ocala, Florida; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends from p.m. Tues-, day, August 26 at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home prior to the funeral services at 3:30 p.m.

CosterMaloy Funeral Home, Newport, is in charge of arrangements. Rutledge, passed Billy Earl Jones Billy Earl Jones, age 57, of Rutledge, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2008, at St. Mary's Hospice Center. in Knoxville after a brave two- year struggle with cancer. He was born on September 2, 1951.

He attended Oakland Baptist Church in Rutledge. He previously worked for Bike Athletic and was very well known among local horse and cattle traders. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Earl Jones and Myrtle Jones. He is survived by his wife, Venila "Vi" Jones; brother, Ray Jones of Dandridge; sister, Faye Jones of Knoxville; Vi's children, Freddie Michael Redmond and Trisha. Kaye Lusby of Rutledge; grandchildren, Mariah Barnes, Garrett Redmond, Samuall Clowers, Josey Redmond and Madison Redmond; many nieces, nephews, special friends and extended families.

He was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 27 at Unity Presbyterian Church, 303 Tom Hall Street, Fort Mill, South. Carolina. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the memorial service.
