Athletics: Favourites through to men's 400m hurdles final
We went from the men's 110m hurdles semis to the men's 400m hurdles semis, and each of the world's top four men all qualified for the final.
World record holder and defending championKarsten Warholm was the fastest qualifier, whileRai Benjamin,Alison dos Santos, andKyron McMaster all made it too – although Alison, third in Warholm's heat, needed a time qualifier spot.
France will be represented in the final too withClément Ducos coming in second behind Warholm in the first heat.

Track cycling: USA win women's team pursuit
Time for the women's team pursuit final betweenUSA andNew Zealand. USA have two women on their four-strong team who have already won medals on the road at Paris 2024: time trial bronze medallistChloé Dygert and road race championKristen Faulkner.
The U.S. quartet build up a quick lead, with over a second on New Zealand at 1500m of this 4km race.
But they find themselves down to three riders before the Kiwis lose their first rider. These three on each side have to get to the end now.
It's still the U.S. well ahead and the world and Olympic record, which has stood since the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games in 2021, could be under threat.
Drama! The third U.S. rider has been dropped by her teammates and has to make it back to the front two! The gap is down under a second.
The U.S. hang on for gold! 4:04.306, just outside the world record – that little blip has cost them the record.
New Zealand take silver, Great Britain bronze.
Faulkner now has golds on both road and track.

Athletics: Favourite Grant Holloway comes close to Olympic record to top men's 110m hurdles semis
We've just had the three semi-finals in themen's 110m hurdles and they were electric!
World champion and hot favouriteGrant Holloway clocked a blistering 12.98 seconds to win heat 1 and make it through to the final as the fastest qualifier. Believe it or not, that is just 0.07 seconds off the Olympic record!
Defending championHansle Parchment of Jamaica was third in that first heat, but makes it through as a time qualifier.
It means there will be three U.S. and three Jamaican runners in the final.

Wrestling: Yusneylis Guzman to wrestle for gold after Vinesh Phogat disqualified
In case you missed it earlier today, India'sVinesh Phogat was disqualified from the women's 50kg freestyle wrestling tournament after failing to make weight on the second day of her competition ahead of the gold-medal bout.
She was 100 grams over the limit, and means the woman she defeated in the semi-finals, Cuba's Yusneylis Guzman, was elevated into the final to face USA's Sarah Hildebrandt in around an hour's time.
The two women Vinesh beat earlier in the competition, Japan'sSusaki Yui and Ukraine'sOksana Livach, were due to face off in a repechage bout – but that has now been upgraded to a bronze-medal match.

Track cycling: Australia win men's team pursuit gold
It's time for the men's team pursuit final. Australia haven't won this title since Athens 2004.Great Britain won this title in 2008, 2012, and 2016.
The Aussies broke the world record yesterday. Can they repeat that today?
It's a fast start from both teams who trade narrow leads through the first kilometre of four. It is neck and neck. Just 0.007 seconds split the teams at 1km.
Australia slowly but surely start to pull away around 2km in as the gap grows to a tenth, then two tenths.
Both teams drop to three men with 1.5km to go and the gap is two tenths of a second. Remember, the third man across the line is when the time stops.
Into the last kilometre as Britain's trio close the gap under two tenths.
This is going to be close! The bell lap with 0.168 seconds separate the two teams – oh no!
Great Britain nearly crash in the dying metres but Ethan Hayter just about hangs on to it!
Australia take gold in 3:42.067. Great Britain claim silver and Italy bronze.
A 20-year wait for gold is over.

Skateboarding: Keegan Palmer retains Olympic men's park title
There have been two men's skateboard park Olympic finals – and still just one Olympic champion!
Australia'sKeegan Palmer retains his title with a strong 93.11 first run.
USA'sTom Schaar put down three strong runs but it's his second run of 92.23 that gets him silver.
And Brazil'sAugusto Akio takes bronze with his final run 91.85, just pipping teammatePedro Barros.
Palmer bangs his board on the ground in celebration, before Barros and Tate Carew rush him and lift him onto their shoulders.
Shoutout too to 51-year-old Andy Macdonald of Great Britain, who participated earlier in qualifying.

Basketball: Belgium beat Spain to secure semi-final berth
Belgium pressed home their advantage in the third quarter, building an 18-point lead that effectively won them the game. Spain mounted a comeback in the fourth quarter, bringing the score within 11, but a timely three-pointer from Julie Vanloo brought the crowd and Belgium bench to its feet, and Spain would get no closer. Final score 79-66 in favour of Belgium.
Belgium reach the semi-finals of an Olympic tournament in only their second appearance at the Games.
"It's been a difficuilt week for us," Vanloo (13 points, 7 assists) said after the game. "After starting so badly, I think everyone counted us out. But against all odds we've fought back, and it's amazing [to make the semi-finals]."

Sailing: Matt Wearn retains men's dinghy Olympic title
On the resail of the men's dinghy medal race, Australia's overall fleet leaderMatt Wearn only goes and puts the cherry on top by winning the medal race too!
Wearn becomes the first man to win back-to-back gold medals in this Laser (ILCA7) class, successfully defending his title from Tokyo with a total net score of 40 points.
Behind him, Cyprus'sPavlos Kontides, a silver medallist from 12 years ago in London, crosses in second place to confirm overall silver, too, on 56 points.
And the battle for bronze between Peru'sStefano Peschiera and Great Britain'sMichael Beckett went to the wire as first the Peruvian, then the Briton, picked up course penalties.
That dropped them to ninth and 10th respectively in the race, enough for Peschiera to hold on to third overall on 80 points.
It's just Cyprus's second Olympic medal in any sport in history, with Kontides having won the other in 2012; Peschiera has won Peru's first Olympic medal in any sport since 1992.

Golf: Home hope Boutier leads as women's first round reaches back nine
It's perhaps safe to say the women's golfers are not having as enjoyable a time getting around Le Golf National as some of the men did last week – some 39 of the 60 golfers, nearly two-thirds of the field, are over par.
But at the top sits France'sCéline Boutier, who is being cheered on every hole with every shot. Through 14 holes today she sits on a 5-under 51, two shots clear of world number two Lilia Vu of USA and South Africa'sAshleigh Buhai.
Selected golfers:
- 1. Céline Boutier (FRA) -5, through 14

Skateboarding: Keegan Palmer (AUS) leads top 8 qualifiers from men's prelims into finals
Just as we thought, no skater could surpass Palmer's big score of 93.78in prelims. The Tokyo 2020 gold medallist looks in fine form, and that must be a scary proposition for his competitors.
Tom Schaar (USA) was next best with a score of 92.05, while 2023 world champion Gavin Bottger (USA)stunningly failed to make the cut, such was the quality of the competition.
A special shout-out must go toAndy MacDonald (GBR), who, at 51, was the oldest competitor in the field. Though he failed to progress, his runs drew applause from skateboard legendTony Hawk, and MacDonald was all smiles as he finished his final run, telling his kids through the camera: "Your dad's on the Olympics!".
The final of the competition is scheduled to start at 17:30 CET.

A shocker in the handball as hosts and defending championsFrance are dumped out in the men's quarter-finals by Germany in overtime.

With time expiring in the 10-minute extra period and Germany ahead, France scored to level the game at 34-34 with just 15 seconds left.
ButRenars Uscins scored with just four seconds left on the clock to send the Germans through to the last four.
It also marked the last international match for the legendaryNikola Karabatic, who receives a standing ovation from the crowd and both teams.

Basketball: Belgium lead Spain at the half of women's quarter-final
After a close first quarter that was one for the offensive purists (26-26), Belgium pulled away in the second to take a 48-37 lead into the half.
There's a big Belgian contingent in the crowd here at Bercy who are roaring the Cats on, and Belgium will look to ride that wave to a first-ever semi-final apperance at the Games.
Spain, meanwhile, will be hoping to avoid a repeat of the EuroBasket final last year, where they lost to Belgium in a very tight contest.

Diving: Rep. of China athletes top qualifiers from men's 3m springboard semi-finals
China has won gold in every diving event at Paris 2024 thus far, and will be looking to add to that tally on Thursday afternoon following today's semi-finals which were dominated by Wang Zongyuan and Xie Siyi.
The pair won gold in the synchronised version of this event back at Tokyo 2020, with Xie also winning gold in the individual event. Wang is also the current defending world champion.
So it should come as no surprise that they finished 1 and 2 in the semi-finals, with Wang tallying a huge score of 537.85 through is six dives. Xie scored 505.85.
The next closer competitor was Jack Laugher of Great Britain, who won bronze in the men's synchronised 3m springboard event last week. Laugher received a total score of 467.05.
